WELCOME!

My name is Daniel Romo and I provide therapy and coaching for high-achieving adults, introverts, and the LGBTQ+ community to move beyond anxiety and trauma and navigate life transitions with confidence.

What you can expect in our work together

You’ve taken the first step in seeking a space designed for growth and confidence. Our work together is a collaborative partnership, more like a co-piloted journey than a passive experience. If you're ready to actively engage in your healing and move your life forward, you are in the right place.

Our Foundation: You Are the Expert
My primary approach is grounded in Client-Centered Therapy. This means I operate from a core belief that you are the ultimate expert on your own life. My first priority is to create a sanctuary of trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. This safe, non-judgmental foundation is essential because it allows us to do the challenging work of growth from a place of security.

Our Process: Insight Meets Action
From that foundation of safety, we build momentum. I seamlessly integrate the deep, understanding work of therapy with the proactive, goal-oriented strategies of coaching. You can expect me to draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help us identify and reshape the unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected. This isn't just about talking about your problems; it's about building a practical toolkit to solve them.

My Role: Your Active Guide & Thought Partner
My style is one of engaged and focused presence. I provide the space for you to be heard deeply, while also ensuring our time is directed toward meaningful growth. You can expect me to:

  • Listen with focused attention to understand your unique story, strengths, and goals.

  • Gently challenge your perspectives and self-limiting beliefs to help you see new possibilities.

  • Provide honest feedback and offer concrete, actionable strategies you can use immediately.

  • Hold you accountable to the insights and goals you set, because I believe in your capacity to do the hard things and create the change you seek.

This integrated approach of therapy and coaching is specifically designed for high-achieving adults, introverts, and the LGBTQ+ community. If you are ready to invest in a partnership that honors your past while actively building your confident future, I invite you to reach out.

More about me

A man with dark hair, a beard, and mustache, wearing a black and white striped shirt, looking to the right against a plain wall.

When I'm not in the therapy room, I'm often channeling my energy into running—from 5Ks to the disciplined, long-term training required for a marathon. I balance that intensity with the joy of live music, the adventure of travel, and quiet moments with my family watching classic films. This balance of challenge and connection is how I stay grounded and present for my work and my life.

What clients often say

Clients often tell me that they appreciate my calm presence and ability to really listen without judgment.

Let's Talk

Bring your thoughts here. We'll sort through them together.

Let's Talk
  • Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to improve your mental and emotional well-being. It provides a dedicated, confidential space—free from judgment—to openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. Think of it as a guided journey toward greater self-awareness, healing, and the skills needed to build a more fulfilling life.

  • Therapy works through a supportive partnership. My role is to create a safe space where you can be heard and understood. Together, we will explore your concerns, uncover underlying patterns, and develop practical strategies to create meaningful change. I blend insightful client-centered therapy with actionable cognitive-behavioral techniques, offering both a space for deep reflection and a roadmap for tangible progress.

The initial session is an "intake," which is less about immediate solutions and more about beginning our therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you in, your history, and your goals, ensuring we are a good fit to do this important work together.

  • The length of therapy is unique to each person and their goals. Some find the clarity they need in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support to deepen their healing and growth. My approach is designed for motivated individuals ready to engage in the process, and we will regularly check in on your progress to ensure our work is effectively meeting your needs. Sessions are 50 minutes long.

  • Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in our sessions is protected by strict legal and ethical guidelines and will not be disclosed to anyone without your written permission. The only exceptions to this rule are rare situations where there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others. We will review the details of confidentiality in our first session to ensure you feel completely secure.

  • Trauma is not just about the event itself, but the lasting impact of a distressing or life-threatening experience that overwhelms your ability to cope. It can leave you feeling stuck, on edge, or disconnected from yourself and others.

My practice specializes in helping adults, particularly within the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, heal from traumatic stressors, including:

    • Racial Trauma: The emotional toll of enduring racism, discrimination, and microaggressions.

    • Historical & Intergenerational Trauma: The lingering effects of collective and ancestral pain.

    • Community Violence & Systemic Injustice: Trauma from exposure to violence or systemic oppression.

    • Identity-Based Trauma: The unique pain of rejection, isolation, or discrimination related to your LGBTQ+ identity.

    • Cultural Barriers: The stress of navigating a mental health system that often lacks cultural competence.

  • I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly.

    My fees are as follows:

    • Individual Session (50 minutes): $200

    • Couples Session (60 minutes): $300

Payable at the time of service.

To help you utilize your out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a monthly superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

    How to Check Your Benefits:
Contact your insurance provider and ask: “What are my out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy, and what is the reimbursement rate for CPT code 90834?” Also, ask if reimbursement applies to your deductible.

  • I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over a decade of clinical experience dedicated to supporting motivated adults from diverse backgrounds.

My career has been focused on serving underserved communities, including the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC populations, and I have specialized experience working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Trauma and Latinx Family Studies.

This extensive background has equipped me with a deep, culturally-informed understanding of the unique challenges faced by high-achieving adults, introverts, and the LGBTQ+ community, particularly when navigating anxiety, trauma, and life transitions.
